Pentax 12-24mm lens and the Canon 10-22mm lens

For Canon users there's the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens (£624) that is equivalent to 16-35mm in 35mm terms.

For Pentax DSLRs there's the 12-24mm f/4 ED AL (IF) lens (£799) and as well as these suggestions you'll find that many third-party manufacturers cater for the APS-C format.

Sigma 10-20mm lens and the Panasonic 7-14mm lens

A popular lens choice is Sigma's 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM, which can be picked up in a variety of lens mounts for £369.

Not forgetting the compact system camera area of the market and the Micro-Four Thirds system, Panasonic produces a 7-14mm f/4 Lumix G lens that's equivalent to 14-28mm. Costing £999 it is fairly expensive, however, and if your budget can't stretch to this there's also the Olympus 9-18mm f/4-5.6 M.Zuiko ED lens at £499. Though it's half the price it isn't as wide as Panasonic's offering and has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 18-32mm.
