Although digital capture holds the benefit of unlimited shooting, sorting through masses of photographs can be both a mundane and downright irritating task. And even though the concept of batch processing has been around for a while now, very few dedicated programmes exist to deal with the matter. BatchPhoto Pro is one of the few, and for the time-strapped photographer it offers a wealth of processing options.
As we may expect, there are options for file renaming, watermarking and resizing images, as well as levels adjustment and noise reduction, in addition to black and white, and sepia conversions. Even better, the Pro version of the software is compatible with practically every image format currently in circulation, including proprietry Raw formats found on compacts and DSLRs.
While the software’s interface is a little prosaic in its style, its layout makes for simple and efficient working. Photos are selected for processing, before filters are applied to make whatever changes are required.
There are 39 different filters in total and they may be stacked in whatever combination you wish; so you can simultaneously resize, crop, change tonality and add a watermark to a batch of images, for instance.
Although working on Raw files slows the process a little, files are otherwise dealt with quickly and the conversion’s status is displayed throughout. There are a few limitations; some of the panels can’t be maximised to make the best use of the space, while the level of adjustment for certain filters is a little primitive for more precise work. The cheaper version of the software loses support for Raw files, advanced retouching and watermarking, though you can download a 30-day trial of each should you be unsure which to go for.

Overall, the software makes light work of batch processing, and what it lacks in grace it makes up in performance.
