Poladroid is a fun desktop app for Windows and Mac PCs that turns your photos into old-fashioned polaroids.

Opening Poladroid mounts a large icon of an old Polaroid camera on your desktop. To use it you simply drag one of your photos onto the icon. The camera then spits out an undeveloped ‘polaroid’ print of your photo (with authentic sound effect) which develops before your eyes. Like the real thing, the picture takes a couple of minutes to fully form, and the final quality is a bit ‘off’ – dodgy colour, slightly fuzzy and with pronounced vignetting – just like the real thing.

As well as the small Polaroid spat onto your desktop you get a larger 1700×1400 image (including the paper mount) saved to the folder of your choice. You can upload these, via the app, to the Poladroid gallery on Flickr (www.flickr.com/groups/poladroid), where you’ll find plenty of great examples.
