Bright shooting conditions are a common hindrance for the photographer, with LCD screens often unusable and viewfinders affected by unwanted light seeping in. Hoodman already has pop-up shades to deal with the former, and with its HoodEye Eyecups it addresses the latter.

Available in a number of fits for both Canon and Nikon models, the HoodEye slots onto the two mounting rails either side of your camera’s viewfinder. It’s used in exactly the same way as a normal viewfinder, only its teardrop-shaped cup extends around the eye to shield out extraneous light. Ingeniously, the silicon cup is able to move freely around the plastic mounting frame, meaning that it can accommodate both left-and right-eye shooters.

Verdict

I can only see the price putting off potential buyers. Then again, this is a remarkably simple solution to a common problem.
