Three new dye-sub compact photo printers are to be added to Canonu2019s Selphy range, the ES1, CP730 and CP720.

Three new compact photo printers are to be added to Canon?s Selphy range.
Headlining the new line-up and representing the flagship model in Canon?s existing line-up is the ES1, which Canon says is based on the concept of ?stress-free? printing.
New features include support for all-in-one ink and media cassettes, 50-sheet capacity and a 2.5-inch LCD screen, all built into a fresh vertical design with a carry handle and retractable USB cable. Specifically developed for the SELPHY ES1, new Easy Photo Packs combine ink and paper in one cartridge that users can simply slot into the printer to re-fill both ink and paper.
The Selphy ES1 uses dye-sublimation technology to deliver up to 256 gradation (intensity) levels per colour per dot, dependent on the amount of heat applied, allowing for a total colour range of up to 16.8 million colours. What?s more, The ES1 is only the second printer to incorporate Canon?s renowned DIGIC II image processing engine, based on the same technology used in Canon’s professional digital SLRs. A new print head controller allows the ES1 to achieve a print resolution of 300x600dpi.
Two new stablemates for the ES1 include the dye-sub CP730 and CP720. Both models feature 2.0? and 1.5? LCD screens respectively and a stylish new design. The Selphy CP730 offers more creativity with the addition of Canon?s ‘My Colours’ photo effects, while the entry-level CP720 provides enhanced connectivity with support for direct printing from most memory cards.
With a footprint smaller than a sheet of A5 paper the printers are designed for ease of storage and the CP730 additionally features an optional battery pack.
A new LCD and user interface advancements enable the user to view their images full screen before printing. The CP730 now features Canon?s ‘My Colours’ function, offering a choice of Vivid, Neutral, Sepia and B&W colour effects. A new trimming function allows images to be cropped prior to printing.
The Selphy CP730 and CP720 will be available from September priced £139 and £99 respectively. The ES1 will hit stores at the same time, priced £189.
