Following the release of the S1 IS last year, Canon is releasing its successor, the S2 IS, which is a 5MP model with a 12x optical zoom lens.
The camera boasts several enhancements, namely the inclusion of a DIGIC II processor found in more advanced models such as the EOS 350D, which improves auto focusing by 45% and start-up times by 50%.
Described as the most powerful optical zoom on a Canon compact camera, the f2.7-3.5 lens includes an optical Image Stabiliser, designed to reduce the effects of camera shake when photos are taken at longer exposures or in lower-light conditions.
Mogens Jensen from Canon comments, ?With both digital camera and digital video camera functionality rivalling many dedicated single function devices, the S2 IS represents a convergence of Canon?s core technologies.?
Other features include a faster continuous shooting capability of 2.4fps, the ability to capture up to an hour?s worth of movies at 30fps and a USB 2.0 interface.
The S2 IS will be available from June priced £469. Find out more details at www.canon.co.uk or by calling 08705 143723.
