Tamron has developed its first Micro Four Thirds zoom lens - the 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III VC

Tamron has released the 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III VC – a high-power zoom lens designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras produced by Olympus and Panasonic. With an optical construction that’s made up of 17 elements in 13 groups, the Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III VC features one LD (low dispersion) glass element, two molded-glass aspherical elements and one hybrid aspherical element to compensate for all types of aberrations.

Equipped with Tamron’s vibration compensation mechanism to counteract camera shake, the lens uses a stepping motor, which Tamron claim has been optimised to provide silent, quick and accurate auto focus.

Coupled to a Micro Four Thirds body, the Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III VC lens is equivalent to 28-300mm in the 35mm format. Users of the lens will be able to focus as closely as 50cm from their subject and it features a 52mm thread at the front for attaching filters and adapters.

With a maximum aperture of f/3.5 at the wide end of the zoom, the minimum aperture can be set to f/22. On the scales the lens weighs 350g and measures 63x85mm.

The lens will be available in two colour variations including black and silver. At the time of writing, pricing and availability was still to be confirmed.
