World's first digital cameras with front and rear LCD screens

Samsung digital imaging has announce its latest pair of compacts – the ST500 and ST550. Both models sport the conventional imaging capacity of a 12.2MP sensor, combined with 27mm wide angle Schneider KREUZNACH 4.6x optical zoom, along with a world-first technology.

While both models sport ample LCD screens on their rear – 3.5in in the case of the ST550, 3in on the ST500 – what’s unique is that both feature a 1.5in LCD screen skilfully hidden on the front panel of the camera.

To activate the LCD screen, simply tap the front LCD, upon which it will switch on and automatically switch to the well-suited self-portrait mode. Further functionality is cleverly provided in the form of displaying an animation in Children mode to capture the child’s attention, a smiley face to show people when to smile, and finally a visual countdown of the time in self-timer mode.

Both models sport HD video capture, with the ST500 also sporting HDMI out capability.

Expect to see both models on the shelves in late August, and for more information visit Samsung online.
