Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has today announced the launch of the exclusive Samsung U800 Pink to support and drive awareness of breast cancer in the UK.
Adopting the traditional colour of breast cancer charities, with each Samsung U800 Pink sold, £10 will be donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK?s leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education. The Samsung U800 Pink will be available in the UK exclusively with Phones 4u from late July 2008 in the run up to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
In 2007, Samsung raised over half a million pounds for breast cancer charities throughout Europe, and this year will mark the launch of the campaign in the UK. Customers can recognise Samsung’s commitment to breast cancer with the specially designed Samsung pink ribbon logo, which will help launch their awareness-building campaign in October. All this is part of Samsung?s four-year plan to help raise awareness and raise sufficient funds to support local breast cancer charities in the fight against breast cancer.
?The Samsung U800 Pink combines style, performance and intuitive functionality, demonstrating that a handset that is simple to use doesn?t have to compromise on looking great.? said Mark Mitchinson, Vice President of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland. ?Through our partnership with Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the U800 Pink will enable the public to raise money and awareness for breast cancer whilst becoming proud owners of a top of the range Samsung mobile.?
Money raised through the sales of the Samsung U800 Pink will help fund Breakthrough Breast Cancer?s vital research at the charity?s dedicated breast cancer research centre in London. Together with Samsung, Breakthrough is working towards a future free from the fear of breast cancer.
The Samsung U800 Pink campaign will consist of prominent in-store activity, plus an extensive but highly targeted press advertising campaign. A dedicated microsite will also drive awareness as well as offer comprehensive advice on how to be breast aware.
