The GX-IS is the first DSLR from Samsung and includes a 6MP CCD and Pentax KAF lens mount
The announcement follows news last October that Samsung and Pentax would be jointly developing digital SLR?s. Utilising a compact and lightweight (505g) body, the GX-1S?s design and layout is similar to Pentax digital SLRs such as *ist DL. Compatible with all existing Pentax digital SLR lenses the GX-1S will use the new Schneider Kreuznach D-Xenon lens system.
Offering continuous shooting at a rate of 2.8fps for 8 Jpegs, the camera includes 11-point auto focus and maximum ISO of 3200. The viewfinder incorporates Pentaprism technology and provides a 95% field of view, while the 2.5in LCD is composed of 210,000 pixels.
Shutter speeds range from 30-1/4000 sec (with Bulb), focusing modes include AF Single, manual and continuous AF and the P-TTL flash offers a 28mm (35mm equivalent) angle of view and a 3sec recharge time.
Samsung has yet to announce a price for the GX-1S, which will be available in March. Find out more at www.samsungcamera.co.uk or by calling 0080 0122 63727.
