French electronics manufacturer Sagem has announced an exclusive agreement with AgfaPhoto, which will see the launch of a new range of digital cameras.

The venture also promises a new line of photo printers ? something Sagem has already gained a reputation for ? as well as a range of digital photo frames. Sagem has stated that in addition to these, a ?range of feature-rich digital cameras from five to ten megapixels? will also be launched.

Since filing for insolvency in 2005, various aspects of AgfaPhoto?s imaging business have been licenced for use by other companies. Sagem hope that this latest development will capitalise on the reputation of the AgfaPhoto brand and increase their presence in the digital market.

Speaking of the companies? agreement, Sagem sales manager Michael Storey said: ?As a brand, we are well-known for our range of PhotoEasy dye sublimation photo printers. What we will do is use our experience in that sector, coupled with the strong appeal of the AgfaPhoto brand – one of the biggest names in the photographic industry to market an extensive range of personal photographic solutions and to enter dynamic new markets with massive growth potential.?
