21 Feb: At Sony’s PMA 2010 Press Conference the company
revealed a prototype of a new hybrid system camera (above) to rival Micro Four Thirds and Samsung’s NX system. Like those cameras it will feature an APS-C sized sensor in a compact, mirrorless body, with the option of interchangeable lenses. The sensor will be able to shoot full 1080p HD video, and the good news is that it will also be incorporated into the next generation of Sony DSLRs, bringing HD video to Sony’s Alpha range for the first time.
Sony also introduced two new SSM lenses for its Alpha DSLRs: a 500mm f/4 G Super Telephoto & a Distagon T* 24mm f/2 ZA wideangle.

 
Sigma 17-50mm LensSigma
21 Feb: Independent lens maker Sigma revealed five new lenses at PMA 2010, including:


  • Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM
  • Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM

  • Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM
  • Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM

  • Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM

Sigma also released updates
of its DP1 and DP2 compact cameras, in the form of the Sigma DP1x and Sigma DP2s. Finally the Sigma SD15, the company’s latest digital SLR has
been updated and is now ready for release, 16 months after it was first
revealed.

Samsung
21 Feb: Samsung released a whole host of new products on day one of the show, including some NX series lenses and two high end compacts:
Samsung WB2000New NX Lenses: Just over a month after launching its first hybrid system camera, the NX10 (one of the new breed of diminutive compact style cameras featuring DSLR sensors and interchangeable lenses) Samsung has revealed five new NX mount lenses for the camera, namely:

  • Samsung NX 18-55mm
  • Samsung NX 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Compact Zoom Lens
  • Samsung NX 20mm f/2.8 Wide Pancake Lens
  • Samsung NX 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS Super Zoom Lens
  • Samsung NX 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens.

Samsung also showed WDC a new NX K-mount adaptor to allow GX and pentax K mount lenses to be fitted to NX format cameras.

Compacts: The Samsung WB2000 is a high-spec compact featuring
Full HD 1080p movie capture and high-speed capture of up to 1000 frames
per second, while their new flagship enthusiast compact the Samsung EX1 boasts a 24mm wideangle f/1.8 lens, full manual control and a variangle LCD screen. Also announced was the Samsung WP10, a, waterproof compact with a 5x optical zoom suitable for use to a depth of 10 feet.

 

Delkin
Delkin has announced the world’s fastest Compact Flash card, and its waterproof too! Thy also introduced the Jellyfish float for underwater photography and the Fat Gecko Gator clamp for fixing cameras onto various objects.

 

Joby
Joby has introduced a Gorillapod with magnetic legs, and a ball head for its Gorillapod Focus.

Ricoh
Ricoh has announced the development of two new lens modules for its GXR modular camera, in the shape of a 28-300mm with a 10MP high speed burst mode and a 28mm f/2.5 with an APS-C sensor.

Epson
22nd Feb: Epson has launched a free printing application for the iPhone to enable wireless printing of photos, including images stored on web galleries such as flickr,  on compatible printers.
