Pentax is to release a new ringflash unit, the AF160FC.

The new model is specifically designed to work with Pentax’s DSLR family, and offers a guide number of 16m at ISO 100. Pentax claims the unit offers uniform illumination and accurate exposure, thanks to the P-TTL auto flash algorithm, and user-friendliness thanks to its single control dial on the rear.

Advanced flash applications, meanwhile, include contrast-control auto flash and independent switching between two flash bulbs.

Availability and pricing have not been confirmed.
