Pentax has extended its waterproof range with the Optio W10.
Featuring a 6MP CCD the 3x optical 38-114mm (35mm equ) zoom doesn?t protrude from the camera?s aluminium alloy body.
The 2.5in LCD includes anti-glare coating to ensure visibility in bright conditions, while the Power Saving mode reduces the brightness to help preserve battery life.
The tough exterior is waterproof to JIS Class 8, enabling the camera to be used underwater for 30 minutes to a depth of 1.5m. It is also snow proof and is dustproof to Class 5 category two.
Accessible in Portrait, Natural Skin Tone and Self-Portrait modes, Face Recognition AF automatically recognises a face, wherever it is in the frame, and adjusts the exposure and focus for optimum results.
The camera?s 25 shooting modes are selectable through icons on the Mode Palette. For quick operation, frequently used commands, such as white balance and image quality, can be assigned to the Green button.
To help prevent blurred images in low light, the sensitivity can be adjusted to ISO 800, and the 640×480 movie mode includes a Shake Reduction feature, designed to compensate for camera shake.
Alongside a 0.6 second start-up, the W10 includes an Image Recovery mode for retrieving pictures that have accidentally been deleted. Other features include 1cm macro, continuous and tracking AF, three colour modes and 10.5Mb internal memory.
