Budding photographers have until March 15th to enter the annual One Vision European photography competition.
Sponsored by pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Swuibb, the competition aims to change ?the stigma and discrimination felt by those affected by HIV and Aids?. Money raised will go to the National Aids Trust and the UK Coalition of People Living with HIV and Aids.
Entrants are invited to submit photographs based on the theme ?Life Begins Today?, into amateur and professional categories, each with a 5000 euro first prize and 2000 euro second prize. There is also a 3000-euro European prize.
Deborah Jack from the National Aids Trust comments: ?The positive images that are created every year by the One Vision competition play an important role in challenging the myths and stereotypes that exist around HIV, and we urge people to enter the competition and do their bit to create a more tolerant society.?
The judging panel includes photographer Robert Taylor. Four prizes will be awarded, including a first prize of 5000 euros and second prize of 2000 euros, alongside a selection of national prizes.
Now in its third year, the One Vision competition had over 500 entries from 16 countries in 2003; rising to 700 entrants from 18 countries in 2004.
