The Coolpix P1 has an 8MP CCD and the P2 a 5.1MP CCD. Both lightweight compacts feature a 36-126mm Zoom Nikkor lens and 2.5in LCD.
Of the16 scene modes found on the cameras, 11 include Nikon?s new Advanced Scene Modes, featuring three effects ? Normal, Effect 1 and Effect 2 ? that can be applied to images. Aperture Priority Mode enables the aperture to be adjusted over 10 steps in one-third increments. The Coolpix P1 and P2 feature seven movie modes (six with sound), In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and continuous shooting at a rate of 2.5 and 2.3 fps. Portrait mode features Face AF mode that can recognise and focus on a human face, while D-Lighting is a playback function that corrects photographs that are underexposed or have excessive backlighting.
Both compacts are bundled with Nikon?s Picture Project software and offer wireless printing with an optional print adaptor.
