The S3 is the latest edition in Nikon’s range of slimline compacts, featuring 6MP and a 35-105mm lens.
Thanks to Nikon’s right-angled optics, the lens doesn’t protrude from the slim 19.7mm body, which features a 2.5in LCD screen.
A fast 1-second start-up is promised along with 1.6fps continuous shooting, while the EN-EL8 battery has the capacity to capture 190 shots from a single charge (according to CIPA standard).
Boasting 17 scene modes, the S3 has a host of features designed to improve picture quality including: D-Lighting, which rectifies underexposed or backlit images, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, and Face priority function, which can recognise a face and focus on it.
Other features include 4cm Macro mode, 12Mb of internal memory, four movie modes and a selection of Graphic User Interfaces enabling users to choose between names or icons.
