Top Scottish-based wildlife photographer Niall Benvie has launched a high-end drum-scanning service aimed at the discerning enthusiast. Scans ae made using an Imacon Flextight virtual drum scanner, which promises sharper scans because it arcs the film, so there is only air between the film and the scanner lens.
Transparencies can be sent in acetate sleeves or plastic mounts. They are scanned into Adobe 1998 editing space, colour corrected and saved as an 8-bit RGB Tiff. It costs £24 for a full retouching service, while 35mm prices start at £9 for a 300ppi 55Mb file.
