Mamiya?s parent company has announced that its camera division will be transferred to a new company to be known as Mamiya Digital Imaging. The news comes after an uncertain period for Mamiya cameras, during which time its formal closure was announced.
Mr. Tsutsumi, President of Cosmo Digital Imaging, the company acquiring the Mamiya Camera & Optical Division, said “We will concentrate our efforts on expanding development of the Mamiya ZD Digital Camera, the Mamiya Digital Back, and the continuation of the current series of Mamiya cameras and lenses.”
?All trademarks, patents, plant facilities, and inventory of Mamiya cameras, lenses and accessories will be transferred to Mamiya Digital Imaging along with most of the skilled manufacturing employees, service technicians, R&D engineers and the sales force. We are also pleased to confirm that there will be no change in Mamiya’s business activities including marketing, sales and service.”
According to Tsutsumi, Mamiya Digital Imaging will have the advantage of being able to focus solely on the development of new digital imaging technologies and products for professional photographers. “We are convinced that the synergy of Mamiya’s experience in camera and lens manufacturing, along with our IT technology capabilities and extensive experience in software development, will accelerate progress and innovation of Mamiya products”.
Mamiya Digital Imaging is said to be looking forward to unveiling its new products at Photokina this September, around the same time the September 1 transfer is scheduled to conclude. For further information visit www.johnsons-photopia.co.uk
