London Camera Exchange Managing Director Nick Richens ran the London marathon last year and after looking for a new challenge for 2013 decided to make up his own.

The challenge involved cycling to all 28 branches of the London Camera Exchange across the country – covering approximately 1,100 miles – with the aim of raising £10,000 for two charities close to his heart. He completed the final leg of the journey on Friday from Reading to Winchester and has surpassed the £10,000 aim.

Nick’s two charities of choice are the MS Society and The Prostate Project. The MS Society does fantastic work for sufferers of the disease such as Nick’s
sister and plays a part in researching the disease. Nick’s father was
diagnosed with prostate cancer 10 years before his death and he
received great support and treatment at Guildford’s St Lukes Cancer Unit
which has close links with The Prostate Project.

Nick stated on his Facebook page that, “Apart from the vicious head wind I experienced crossing Dartmoor I have been extremely lucky with the weather. It could have been so much worse and, touch wood, I haven’t suffered a mechanical failure, an accident or even a puncture.”

In a Facebook post with only 3 days left to go, Nick quoted the following statistics:

“15 days, 13 days in the saddle, 881 miles, 51,598ft climbed, 67 hours pedalling, 16 counties, 20 towns or cities and 22 branches visited, too many cakes consumed to count.”
