Battersea Park plays host to the Affordable Art Fair Spring Collection, aiming to make art enjoyable and accessible to everyone
Taking place on 15-19th March 2006, the event is designed to enable people to learn about and buy original art in a relaxed environment. Paintings, prints and sculptures will be displayed in more than 125 galleries and all products on sale will retail for under £3000.
Research undertaken by the Affordable Art Fair indicates that many people feel ?intimidated by the art scene, and in the dark when it comes to making that all-important first purchase?. The research found that 64% of people would like to own a piece of art, in contrast to the third of people that actually do. Also, 30% of people are unsure about how to find art, 84% are put off by the high prices and 13% are intimidated by the process of buying art.
AAF Photo2006, an exhibition selling work from a selection of photographic galleries including Snap, Tim Hall Photography and Lupe Gallery, returns to the fair for the second year.
Will Ramsay from AAF comments: ?Photography is rocketing up the Richter scale in terms of collectability, and AAF Photo 2006 highlights the technical brilliance and subtle emotions that can be achieved within the realms of fine art photography.?
Advance tickets cost £9, rising to £10 on the door, concessions are £7 and children under 16 get in free. Find out more at www.affordableartfair.com
