Kodak has announced the summer release of six digital compacts ? including a 12MP debut.

Four cameras mark the start of the ?M? series, featuring the seven-megapixel M753 and the eight-megapixel M853. Both feature a 2.5in LCD screen and a 3x optical zoom lens, and will be available in either a silver or black finish.

Two further eight-megapixel models ? the M873 and M883 ? add to the range, boasting face-detection technology and 3in LCD screens. High ISO capabilities, to ensure sharp images in low-light situations are matched with Kodak?s Digital Image Stabiliser and Perfect Touch technology, helping the consumer to ?take consistently better shots?. Both cameras will be available in silver and the entire series will be complemented by a range of accessories.

In addition, two high-zoom cameras ? the twelve-megapixel Z1275 and seven-megapixel ZD710 ? join Kodak?s Z range, boasting 5x and 10x optical zooms respectively. Both cameras will be equipped with the same Image Stabilisation and Perfect Touch technology as the M series.

The M753 will go on sale from July, with the M853, M873, Z1275 and ZD710 following in August and the M883 appearing on the shelves from September.
