Insects across the country will come under ?macroscopic? attention from wildlife photographers as the Environment Agency and the Royal Entomological Society focus on ‘Creating a Buzz about Insects’.
The competition is part of national insect week (June 19 – 25) and encourages amateur photographers to delve into the entomological world, both in the UK and abroad.
The deadline for submission of photos is October 31 and both winners and runners up will be chosen from the categories ?Best Photograph of an Insect Native to the UK? and ?Best Photograph of a Foreign Insect.?
Winners receive £500 and get their entry published in the BBC Wildlife Magazine and website as well as in the Royal Entomological Society?s Magazine, Antenna.
Runners-up receive a framed colour photograph from Dr Steve Hopkin.
