The DC500 is a new underwater digital camera from SeaLife Pioneer. The 5MP model has a 3x optical zoom and can be used down to a depth of 30m.
Encased in a rubber-armoured housing designed not to slip, the camera has a two-inch LCD screen at the back, for viewing and checking digital photographs.
Features include a 30fps MPEG 4 video mode with sound, and a Quickshot Mode (with no shutter delay). Offering a fast USB 2.0 transfer, it is also compatible with the Pictbridge standard and can focus as close as 6cm. Pictures can be stored on the 16Mb internal memory or on an optional SecureDigital card.
The DC500 will be available at the end of July in a series of kits aimed at different standards of user. The DC500 will cost £349.99, the DC500 Pro kit will cost £449.99, the Elite Kit £599.99 and the Maxx Kit £999.99.
