PowerShot SX20 IS and SX120 IS announced

Canon has continued a busy day of camera launches with the announcement of two new additions to its SX series of advanced compacts. The new models – the PowerShot SX20 IS and SX120 IS – are successors to previously successful models and offer a range of improvements.

The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS arrives as the successor to the SX10 IS, offers a ‘wide-angle super zoom’ solution for photographers, boasting a 20x optical zoom and a wide-angle of 28mm. The models 12.1MP sensor is paired with a DIGIC 4 processor for high image quality, while the model also sports a 2.5in vari-angle LCD screen. Finally, the SX20 IS boasts both an Ultrasonic Motor and Voice Coil Motor for fast, silent focus and zooming, while the model now shoots HD video capture.

Canon’s other addition to the SX series is the PowerShot SX120 IS. The model offers a 10x optical zoom, 10MP sensor, DIGIC 4 processor and a range of shooting modes and tools aimed at making getting the right shot simple. The model also sports a bright 3in LCD screen with a wide viewing angle.

Both models will be available towards the end of the month, with the SX120 IS having an RRP of £229, and the SX20 IS with an RRP of £399
