Winners in two categories each scoop u00a35,000

The winners in this year’s ‘And/or’ photography book competition have been announced.

The competition featured both ‘Best Photography Book’ and ‘Best Moving Image’ categories, with the winner of each scooping a £5,000 prize.

Susan Meiselas: In History, edited by Kristen Lubben (Steidl) scooped the ‘Best Photography Book prize. The title is a tribute to the Magnum photographer’s career, and is based around an extended interview with Meiselas herself.

Fellow Magnum photographer Martin Parr comments: “Susan Meiselas had a long and distinguished career in photography… brought together in one remarkable book”.

Meanwhile, Photography and Cinema by David Campany (Reaktion Books) won the ‘Best Moving Image’ category. The title ‘assembles a missing history in which photography and cinema have been each other muse and inspiration for over a century’.
