Taiwan company Altek, who produce a number of digital cameras not currently available in the UK, has released details of the 14MP Leo camera phone. Another eye catching element of the phone is a 3x optical zoom, which has necessitated a protruding lens from the rear as well as a 720p HD movie mode.
Although it may not be the compact of devices, the Leo does remedy the conundrum of a decent level of magnification in a camera phone. Without details of the sensor size it’s difficult to judge whether the camera phone will suffer in low light conditions, but the lens appears to be pretty substantial on the PR shots.
There’s been no release date confirmed as yet, nor an assurance that Altek themselves will launch the phone or simply allow it to be rebranded by another company. For more info head to www.altek.com.tw
