Sporting a 12.4MP 1/1.7-inch, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, the Pentax Q-S1 is billed as an 'everyday', carry-everywhere compact.

It's capable of shooting at up to ISO 12,800 and comes equipped with a 3-inch LCD monitor. Burst shooting maxes out at 5fps.

Pentax has also incorporated its shake-reduction system that it says will provide blur-free images, a 'Dust Removal' system to prevent dust from spoiling images, and an HDR mode.

The camera features a number of scene modes, FUll HD movie recording, and is available in a whopping 40 colour combinations (five body colours and eight grip colours).

The Pentax Q-S1 will be available in September 2014, priced £299.99 body-only, £379.99 with a 5-15mm lens and £549.99 with 5-15mm and 15-45mm lenses.

Also announced this evening is the new HD Pentax-DA645 28-45mm F4.5ED AW SR lens, designed to optimise the performance of medium format cameras like the Pentax 645Z.

Consisting of 17 elements in 12 groups, the lens boasts two high-performance aspherical elements, and two Extra-low Dispersion elements.

Ricoh says the lens has also been given a high-grade multi-layer HD coating to optimise light transmission.

A Quick-shift Focus system allows the user to quickly switch to manual-focus operation.

The HD PENTAX-DA645 28-45mm will be available from early September 2014, priced £3,399.99.
