More than 150 fantastic images have been honoured as the winners of this year's Travel Photographer of the Year competition have been unveiled.

The top prize, the Cutty Sark Award for Travel Photographer of the Year, has gone to British photographer Timothy Allen for a monochrome series of a mud-mosque replastering festival in Mali, as well as images depitcing Dogon life in the country and studies of individual in Wales and Bhutan.

Timothy is a familiar face in TPOTY, and his images have been honoured a fair few times in various different categories over the years. This is the first time he has won the grand prize, for which he receives £5000, a complete set of Cutty Sark's blended whiskies, and a bespoke Cutty Sark/TPOTY surfboard. Timothy is reportedly a whiskey-drinker and a surfer, which is pretty fortunate.

Fourteen-year-old Jonathan Rystrøm from Denmark won Young Travel Photographer of the Year for an urban series exploring photography of movement.

The judging panel this year included photographers Eamonn McCabe, Nick Meers and Chris Weston, the editor of German publication FOTO magazin, and the photography director of Condé Nast Traveller.

You can see the full gallery of the winning and commended images on the TPOTY website. All will be on display at an exhibition at London's Royal Geographical Society from July 11 to August 17, 2014. The 2013 exhibition attracted almost 50,000 visitors.
