Nokia has unveiled the Lumia 1520, the first smartphone to feature a 6-inch 1080p high definition display.

The Lumia 1520 boasts a 20MP camera – its resolution less than half that of the Lumia 1020 but still more than double that of other leading smartphone cameras such as the iPhone 5s.

Like the 1020, the Lumia 1520 comes kitted out with Zeiss optics. It also boasts Optical Image Stabilisation, a 2x lossless zoom, dual LED flash and the ability to capture 1080p video at 30fps.

The 1520 brings Nokia’s Camera system of imaging apps, which includes ProCam and SmartCam, and also brings a few new apps to the table. Nokia Storyteller is a new application that merges images with GPS data and contact information to create interactive, chronologically arranged stories. Also available is the recently released Nokia Refocus, which does exactly what it sounds like it does (give it a try here).

The Snapdragon 800 processor has been upgraded with an ‘advanced integration level’, which Nokia says translates to fewer components in the phone, therefore lower power consumption and more opportunity to pack in features.

Like previous Nokia smartphones, the 1520 runs on Windows 8. With Microsoft Office already on board, as well as 7GB of cloud storage and 64GB of micro SD storage, Nokia are pitching it as a business companion as well a consumer phone.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 will be available to buy on contract from various retailers for around £38 per month. The release date is set for Friday December 6, 2013. See Nokia’s website to find out more.
