With speculation of a retro full-frame camera arriving from Nikon, rumour of its specification continues to be leaked online. Some of the most interesting rumours suggest the retro styled Nikon could use the same sensor as found within the company’s flagship model – the D4, while it’s said the camera could also feature a pentaprism viewfinder that would make it vastly different to the recently announced Sony Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R that have a mirrorless design.

Other leaked specs suggest the retro Nikon will use the standard Nikon F-mount, will be capable of shooting at up to 5.5fps for 100 shots, but won’t feature HD video for reasons that are unknown. It’s expected the camera will also be bundled with a 50mm f/1.8G lens to match the slim design of the body. Some of the other rumours regarding its specification can be found below.

On the lead up to the upcoming release of the so-called ‘Nikon DF camera’ a series of videos have been released online. If you study the videos carefully it’s possible to make out the outline of the new camera, while its loud shutter mechanism traces its roots back to the film era, suggesting it’s out to target traditional photographers looking for the very best in image quality.
