The lens features 5.5 times zoom ratio, covering focal lengths from medium to super telephoto, and has been treated with Pentax's HD coating to increase light transmission and reduce reflections.
It's also been extensively weatherproofed to keep moisture out of the lens barrel, and Pentax says that it is insulated against rain, mist and intermittent spray or splash.
The lens features Pentax's Quick-Shift Focus System, which allows the user to instantly shift to manual-focus mode after pinning down a subject in their camera's AF system.
The HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8ED WR will be available from November 2014, priced at £399.99.
