Nikon adds P330 to Coolpix stable

Nikon has made a new addition to its Coolpix line of compact cameras with the P330.

Worthy of any ‘serious photographer looking for portability with performance', the P330 blends a number of high-end features into a small body. These include a 1/1.7in backlit CMOS sensor with a 12.1MP resolution, which boasts a native resolution of ISO 100-6400. To ensure the camera remains operational in particularly difficult lighting conditions, this can be extended to an equivalent maximum sensitivity of ISO 12,800.

The sensor is joined by a 28-140mm lens, which sees a f/1.8 aperture at its widest end and a second-generation VR system that includes a new Active Mode; this is designed to provide better stability when photographing from a moving vehicle. To provide circular bokeh the optic includes a seven-bladed diaphragm, while an integrated neutral density filter helps to lengthen exposures.

Images may be recorded in either Raw or JPEG formats, while full HD videos with stereo sound can be captured in a choice of frame rates. Additionally, the camera can be set to record GPS information, which is subsequently embedded into an image's metadata.

With its EXPEED C2 processing engine, the Coolpix P330 can also be programmed to fire 10fps at its full resolution for up to 10 frames, or alternatively 30 frames at a speed of 1fps.

Elsewhere the P330 provides a 99-point AF system with Subject Tracking AF for moving subjects, as well as an Auto HDR mode which blends two separate exposures to increase an image's dynamic range.

The Coolpix P330 is set to be available towards the end of the month in white and black finishes, with a launch price of £349.99. For further information visit the Nikon website.
