As well as the X-E1, Fujifilm has added an even smaller pocketable compact to its X-series lineup - the XF1. With a premium aluminum finish and 4x optical zoom providing a 25-100mm focal length in 35mm terms, it has a fast aperture range of f/1.8-4.9. To keep it as small and as compact as possible, Fujifilm has out shopped the XF1 with a unique lens design and while we were at Photokina 2012 we spoke to Theo Georghiades, Senior Business Manager for Fujifilm in the UK, who gave us a hands-on demonstration of how it worked.
At the heart of the XF1 lies a 2/3in, 12MP EXR CMOS sensor that's partnered beside Fujifilm's EXR processor that promises to deliver fast AF in low-light situations. At the rear of the camera the XF1 sports a 3in, 460k-dot LCD screen, while Full HD movie recording is also provided. Available in three colours that include black, red and brown, the XF1 should be available from November for £379.
