Two new, 20x optical zoom compact cameras have been unveiled by Canon. The SX240 HS and SX260 HS offer a 25-500mm focal length as well as manual controls and HD movie shooting. Very few differences between the two cameras are apparent, with GPS functionality being the standout extra posessed by the SX260 HS over the SX240 HS.

Much like the other Canon compacts releases announced today the two SX models boast the HS System, which should improve low light performance. The lens is also stabilized using the Intelligent IS system, and 1080p HD movies can be recorded.

With both cameras being so similar, but a £30 difference being present between the two, the GPS will have to be highly desirable to warrnat the extra cash. Although the feature is useful for tagging images by location we've also seen battery life become quite severely effected when the feature is employed.

This aside both models offer a highly impressive feature list for the money, which is £299 for the SX240 HS and £329 for the SX 260 HS. More information can be found at Canon's website
