Twin lens allows for 3D shooting on Panasonic interchangeable lens models

Panasonic has launch a new twin interchangeable lens, which allows the likes of the Lumix DMC-G2 and Lumix DMC-G10 to take stills and movies in 3D. Instead of being a twin CCD system, like Fuji’s recent Real 3D W1 compact, the Panasonic lens uses two lenses to capture a stereoscopic photo, which is then processed into a 3D photo by the camera. This should mean that the capture and process time is significantly lessened as only a single image is recorded, rather than two separately recorded photos being combined.

The lens should be on sale by the end of the year, with more information expected soon. Check www.panasonic.co.uk for more details of the Micro Four Thirds system.
