The new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM adds to the acclaimed L-series of lenses, not only offering improved second-generation Image Stabilisation (IS) from its predecessor, but a variety of improved performance areas.
The internal optical system sees a reworking - now 23 elements in 19 groups - and a high performance fluorite element is used at the lens' heart, coupled with five ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements to reduce chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range.
Minimum focus of 1.2 metres and a 0.21x magnification allow subjects both close and far to be photographed. The lens itself has been structurally redeveloped and is weather- and dust-proofed to make it more robust and reliable, with an external redesign reducing the thickness of protruding parts, such as switches, to ensure absolute control; no accidents.
Complete with ET-87 lens hood, a ring-type tripod collar and the brand new LZ1326 lens case, the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM will be available at the end of February, priced £2,800.

Buy a NIKON if you want an investment for that money, if you want a disposable - buy a CANON

A great addition to an already superb range of lenses. But the market, especially in this economic downturn, will probably find this lens over-priced. It will be interesting to see the street price in 6 months time!
