Nikon has unveiled the world’s first digital camera with a built-in projector.

The Coolpix S1000pj sports a projector capable of displaying images and movies at up to 40 inches in size.

Elsewhere the model packs in a 12MP sensor and Expeed processing, and a 5x optical zoom starting from 28mm in equivalent terms. The rear also features a 2.7in LCD screen.

A range of previously seen technologies have also been incorporated in to the model, including Optical image stabilisation and D-lighting, as well as a Smart Portrait system with a Skin Softening feature.

The camera will be supplied with a remote control, which may be used to operate the camera’s shooting functions in addition to those of the projector.

The model is set to become available in September, at a recommended retail price of £389, and in a choice of sliver and black finishes.
