Scottish retailer goes into administration

The Scottish highstreet retailer behind the Klick Photopoint and Max Spielman photo shops has gone into administration and is now facing the possibility of losing half of its workforce.

Glasgow-based Bowie Castlebank Group is to cut more than 800 jobs including staff at its 314 photo processing shop.

The company, which also runs the William Munro chain of dry cleaning shops,is pointing to the fact that less people are now processing image.

Blair Nimmo, who has been announced as joint administrator, stated that there is a hope that some of the stores will be sold in an attempt to keep some of the business alive: ‘…we are marketing the business in an attempt to secure a sale of some of the Group’s stores or operations as a going concern’.

Nimmo added to The Independent that ‘…customers who currently have photos with either Klick or Max Spielman for development…are advised to return to the local store as quickly as possible to retrieve these items’.
