Pentax Announces K200D and K20D

Pentax has confirmed its two latest DSLR models, the K200D and K20D.
The K20D is Pentax’s version of the Samsung GX-20 and has the same body and what at this point seems to be a very similar specification. The main points of difference are in the menu interface, the inclusion of Pentax’s PEF Raw format (in addition to DNG) and the price. The K20D will launch at £899 for the body only and £999 with the 18-55mm kit lens.
The K200D is a long-overdue update of the veteran K100D, with a new 10MP CCD sensor (up from 6MP) a 2.7in LCD screen (but no Live View) a RAW button, improved battery consumption and the new option of a battery grip. Perhaps most interestingly is the news that Pentax has given the body the ‘bullet-proofing’ treatment of its costlier sibling, with around 60 seals against dust and moisture ingress. The camera will be available with the 18-55mm kit lens for £579.99.
Expect to see both models from March.
