Kingston Technology has announced the launch of its new Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) Class 2 card. The new SDHC memory card is available in a 4GB capacity (£114) and is backed by a lifetime warranty. The Secure Digital High-Capacity Card is a new standard set by the SD Card Association, the industry body responsible for defining SD performance classifications and capacities. Based on this standard, the SDHC cards can deliver capacities beyond the 2GB threshold of present day SD cards, offering three speed classes: 2, 4, and 6. This guarantees minimum sustained transfer rates to support large digital video recordings for optimum performance. SDHC cards are only compatible with SDHC host devices and manufacturers currently offering host cameras include: Canon, Pentax, Sanyo, Casio and Nikon. Kingston Technology has also added SDHC compatibility to its popular 15-in-1 Card Reader, which costs around £15.
