Leica has launched its first model in a new line up of ultra slim compact digital cameras. Sporting Leica’s traditional retro styling, the 6.3MP Leica C-Lux 1 features a 2.5inch LCD, 3x optical zoom and image stabilization technology. Optical functionality is provided by a Vario-Elmarit lens, which offers a maximum aperture of f2.8 and an equivalent focal range of 28-102mm. A product of Leica’s ongoing partnership with Panasonic, the camera’s features and specifications bear more than a passing resemblance to those of the Panasonic DMC-FX01. Leica promises that C-Lux 1 users will also reap the benefits of an enhanced battery life, quick response times and a range of scene modes that include food, party and fireworks options in addition to traditional settings such as portrait, landscape and sport modes. The camera comes complete with a 64MB SD card, battery charger and software package that includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 4. The Leica C-Lux 1 will hit shops at the end of the month priced £379.
