Following the success of RawShooter Essentials, Pixmantec has introduced a new premium version of its RAW workflow software. RAW by RAW comparison enables up to four RAW files to be compared simultaneously, with the option to navigate and magnify them by 800% at the same time. The Integrated Downloader speeds up the transfer process, automatically flattening all source directories into one and creating picture previews. The Premium version offers the same RAW file support of Essentials, including Adobe DNG, with additional support for the Canon EOS 5D and Canon EOS 1D Mark II N. Horizon Straighten, Crop and Image Rotation tools feature in the new Image Formatting Toolbox, while users can save a collection of commands they use frequently on their photographs as a ‘Personalised Appearance.’ Other new adjustment tools include Curves/Levels, Vibrance for enhancing the saturation, and Colour Balance for applying a colour cast. A number of features are designed to speed up the workflow. FastProof quickly creates Jpegs that suitable for emailing (with the option to add an ICC profile). Also, the new FastBrowse enables users to view multiple RAW files as thumbnails without slowing down the speed of the computer, and multiple RAW files can be renamed in a batch. Michael Johnson from Pixmantec comments: ‘With RawShooter Premium 2006 we are offering the most user-friendly tool for RAW image editing, correction and conversion, targeting digital photographers at all levels of expertise.’ RAW files can be interpolated by 200% and the effects of pattern noise and hot pixels are reduced with the new Noise Suppression Tool. Other features include: Extended Colour Support, and Magnifier for enlarging a specific section of a picture. Supplied with the program is a RAW Workflow Guide written by top wildlife photographer Andy Rouse. RAWShooter Premium 2006 will be available to download from the Pixmantec website for $99 (£56) and, until the end of October, it is available at a special price of $59 (£33).
