The SHW-16H5S is the first self-branded DVD writer from Lite-On IT incorporating LightScribe technology and 8x writing speeds.

The SHW-16H5S is the first self-branded DVD writer from Lite-On IT incorporating LightScribe technology and 8x writing speeds.
Promising the fastest CD writing of any DVD drive of 48x, dual-layer burning speeds are 8x for DVD+R discs and 4x for DVD-RW discs. Single-layer burning is 16x for DVD+/-R and re-writing speeds are 8x for DVD+RW and 6x for DVD-RW. The SHW-16H5S has the capacity to back-up over 8.5Gb of information.
Instead of using labels or pens to write onto a disc, LightScribe uses laser etching to write the image onto the disc (specific media is required.)
Floating Double Suspension System (FDSS) is designed to reduce the effect of noise and vibration, while Smart-Burn enables high-speed writing and removes buffer under-run. Other features include a 2Mb buffer and Smart X, which ensures the audio is smooth.
The SHW-16H5S supports Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP. Supplied with the drive is: Nero Express 6, Nero Vision Express and Cyberlink PowerDVD. It will retail for around £35-£40.
