Pentax has added to its series of waterproof compacts with the Optio WPi; a 6MP compact with a 38-114mm 3x optical zoom lens.
Featuring a slim body 22mm deep, the WPi is described as being ?developed in line with the concept of sportiness, elegance and leisure?.
JIS Class 8 waterproof performance enables it to be used for up to 30 minutes underwater to a depth of 1.5mm. It is also suitable for outdoor activities such as skiing and marine sports.
The 2in LCD screen is composed of 115,000 pixels, and clear viewing ? even on sunny days ? is promised thanks to a backlighting mechanism.
Candlelight and Report mode enables the camera to attain a sensitivity of ISO 800. You can also track a moving object with tracking AF and add 20sec voice captions to a picture. The WPi also features a recovery function for times when you might accidentally delete an image. There are also three photo frames that can be applied to digital photographs, with the option to download replacements from the Pentax website. Other features include in-camera movie editing, 1cm macro mode and 10.5Mb of internal memory.
