A trio of new digital Ixus cameras has been announced by Canon to replace existing models. The 5MP Ixus i Zoom builds on the popularity of the Ixus i buts adds a 2.4x optical zoom featuring Canon’s high contrast Ultra High Refractive Index Aspherical lens for sharp results in a compact size. The supplied docking station charges the camera and allows easy connectivity to a PC, TV or printer. The i Zoom comes with a stylish semi-matte finish and is available in a range of four stunning colours: Jet (black), Sahara (gold), Cranberry (burgundy/red) and Ultra-Violet (purple). Additional features include a DIGIC II processor, 9 point AiAF, 16 shooting modes and a 1.8” LCD. It will be available from September for £319. Meanwhile the existing Ixus 50 and Ixus 700 are replaced by the Ixus 55 and 750 respectively. At £419 the Ixus 750 is the new Ixus flagship and boasts a 7.1MP sensor, 3x optical zoom and a big 2.5” LCD screen. Available from next month the curvaceous all-metal camera comes in a choice of Silver Grey or Satin Beige finish, while the smaller £329 Ixus 55 is finished in silver-white palladium plating on stainless steel.
