A 2.4in LCD screen can be used for viewing photos, as well as adding borders and colour effects, while an optional battery pack (retailing at £49.99) enables users to produce prints while on the move.
Prints produced by the PictureMate are resistant to smudges, water and fingerprints and, according to results from the Wilhelm Institute, can withstand fading for up to 100 years, a time-span which Epson claims is longer than some photo-lab prints.
The PictureMate 500 supports a range of memory cards, including SecureDigital, CompactFlash, xD and Memory Stick. Photos can also be transferred from a camera phone (using an optional Bluetooth adapter) or through a USB cable.
Richard Baylis from Epson comments: ?You can have stunning quality photos, without having to connect to a computer, in seconds. It is truly a product that anyone can use.?
It retails at £179, and you can find out more at www.epson.co.uk or by calling 0800 220 546.
