    Interesting image Mike. do you know what the cylinders are for on the back of the bogey, perhaps it's gas powered??? Lovely shot anyway. Well captured. regards philb, PS. Is that you standing there, (and Mary took the shot}?????

    Hi Phil. im not an expert, I just assumed they were receivers for the air brakes, Nice day out breakfast in Ravenglass ride the train to Beckfoot, have a nice walk, then lunch in Boot then back again on the train. Not me in pic railway man..Mike.

    You're probably right Mike, about the air brakes. It's just that there's loads of steam but not a sniff of smoke. Perhaps that's because:- "It's a photograph"

    Hi Phil, Very little smoke as you say, must be good quality coal, there is a You tube clip of River esk, even when she is pulling hard from start off there is mainly steam from the stack, but you can clearly see the coal and blue bucket on the tender..Mike.
