Hi Jan. What a lovely dog she is, and I can see that you're trying out different methods. If I may make a suggestion, I would have taken this pic with Martha against a neutral background, like a green field for example and then that part of her white coat which is now blown out would not have been 'washed out'. Also as head is way in front of her body, it seems slightly out of proportion. Hope you don't mind my suggestions, if you do then just tell me to mind my own, and I would never take offense. I just want to see you being a great animal photographer and if I can offer a suggestion, please take it in the right manner. All the best, Mike.

Mike, I wont take offense, I know I have so much to learn and I am very grateful to you for taking the time to try and help me. I will never be great at taking images but I would love to be good at capturing animals and people, so thank you again for your advise. Jan.

Hi Jan, everybody starts somewhere, and receives help and advice along the way, by this we can all become better photographers. If I want to take a certain pic, then I look at the work of my betters and then I gain a better understanding of how to shoot my chosen subject. What angle was it taken at? what was the background like, was it out of focus, how was it composed etc, you get the idea?. It doesn't cost any money either, all it takes it time and practice. That's the beauty of digital, take the shot, have a look on the screen, is it ok, if not just delete and do another, simple! I'm still learning after snapping for over 50 years. I began with black and white and did my own developing and printing, great fun! All the best, Mike.
