Great subject Jan, but is your camera set up correctly?. I see that you shot at ISO 640 but the image seems washed out and too 'grainy'. The distance should not make the pic turn out like this. Please check out your settings, some of your pics are fine, but others seem to suffer the same thing as this pic. I find that even after taking pics for over 50 years I'm still learning every time I use my camera, and a great deal of regular practice is what's needed to achieve consistent good results. I wish I had this bird in my garden, I sometimes see the Greater Spotted but only ever seen this one once. All the best, Mike.
